Job summary

Terracon in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Geologist/Hydrogeologist to evaluate subsurface field and sampling data and develop conclusions about environmental and geologic site conditions. You will generate subsurface maps, collaborate with engineers and environmental scientists, and oversee field monitoring and soil testing.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology with at least one year of related experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field with at least 1 year of related experience.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history may be required.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and participate in pre-task planning.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.
• Develop Geologist/Hydrogeologist responsible for conducting analyses; assignments develop knowledge and abilities.
• Conduct site visits, field observations and field data collection.
• Assist in collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects.
• Conducts water, soil and other media sampling.
• Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
• Outlines required investigative program(s) by selecting the proper alternative techniques to conduct site studies in field of expertise.
• May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Oversee field monitoring and testing of soils including boring investigations and soil type classification. Interpret soil, bedrock and groundwater elevation and quality data. Prepare written plans and reports related to site investigations, assessments and remediation activities. Projects may include construction projects focusing on earthwork and structural foundations; well design and sampling; environmental assessments including Phase I/II site assessments; seismic risk assessments.
