Job summary

RECONN is hiring Utility Inspection Technicians to inspect gas meters for leaks and corrosion in the Boston area. Starting pay is $24-$32/hr, increasing to $25/hr after full qualification and to $26/hr after first anniversary.

Overtime and weekend work may be required; on-site shifts with ongoing training are provided. Technicians will report to their assigned area, complete required paperwork, and use basic tools and technology to assess conditions.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to read a utility map and use simple hand tools.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.

Responsibilities

• Check gas meters for leaks and corrosion; perform visual inspections and complete paperwork.
• Report on time to the assigned work area; identify abnormal conditions and fill forms (electronic or paper).
• Work daytime, full-time with potential overtime; some weekends may be required.
• Instructor-led training will be provided.
