Nextlink is seeking a Fiber Locate Technician to identify, locate, and mark underground fiber optic cables. You will use specialized locators and radar to detect cables, then clearly mark their positions for safe digging.

Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, updating maps, and maintaining thorough documentation while coordinating with contractors and field crews. This is a full-time on-site role with travel to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day 2-3 times per week.
• Ability to carry locating equipment for several hours daily.

Responsabilités

• Locate underground fiber optic cables using electromagnetic locators and tracer wires.
• Mark locations clearly with paint, flags, or stakes for excavation safety.
• Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints to estimate cable paths.
• Maintain accurate records, sketches, maps and digital files of located utilities.
