Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a proactive Environmental Technician to join the Environmental Team at the Cortez operation. The role focuses on collecting environmental data, ensuring QA/QC, maintaining instruments, and supporting compliance with environmental permits.

Ideal candidate has a bachelor's in environmental science or 1–2 years in the field, ability to work outdoors year-round, troubleshoot equipment, and operate light vehicles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field or 1–2 years in an environmental technician or similar role—preferred
• Ability and willingness to work outdoors year-round with little supervision in remote areas; required
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair sampling equipment including pumps, tubing, calibration meters; required
• Ability to operate light vehicles, off-road vehicles, and trailers on dirt roads; required
• Ability to walk on uneven, sloped, rocky, wet or icy ground; required
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds safely; required
• Ability to develop positive working relationships; required
• Previous experience in data collection, database management, field instrumentation calibration/use and electronics; preferred
• Strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Word & Excel; preferred

Responsibilities

• Collect environmental data and samples for compliance reporting with proper QA/QC
• Calibrate and maintain instruments and gather data
• Manage sample collection and shipment with proper custody
• Complete inspections required by compliance programs
• Document sample collection and field data accurately
• Maintain analytical data in the EQuIS database
• Provide training for site personnel as needed
• Travel to remote areas for sample collection
• Install pumps and piezometers in monitoring wells
• Troubleshoot sampling equipment and weather stations as needed
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies
• Perform other duties as assigned
