Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineering Intern for our project site in Abilene, Texas.

This full-time internship runs May through August 2027, offering hands-on experience on real projects and exposure to solar/renewable energy initiatives within a national data center business unit. You will support Project Engineers, learn field layout, safety and quality audits, and participate in project meetings while developing critical construction management skills and building

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry (e.g., construction management, construction engineering, construction technology).
• Desire to pursue a career in Solar/Renewable Energy and construction project management, field supervision, or estimating.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older
• Possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to travel to and from the job site
• Able to work full time from May to August 2027 at our project site in Abilene, Texas
• Able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test conducted by a third party
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents
• Conducts safety audits and quality audits
• Reads and understands drawings and specifications
• Logs submittals and process RFI’s
• Assists with surveying and project layout
• Maintains and updates field drawings, field equipment and records
• Assists with coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field staff
• Attends relevant project meetings
• Prepares memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents
• Assists with project documentation requirements
• Assists with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing
• Performs other duties as assigned
