Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED and at least five years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Electrical: Journeyman Electrician license and supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
  • HVAC/R: EPA Universal Refrigeration Technician certification and leadership experience preferred.
  • Boiler Operations: 1st class boiler operator license and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains utility equipment supporting production schedules and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoots and implements corrective actions for performance issues.
  • Supports equipment upgrades to improve performance and reliability.
  • Trains equipment owners and maintenance personnel on operation and care of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Assists engineering projects involving electro-mechanical applications from design to testing and implementation.
  • Follows company policy and SOPs including safety, environmental, and training requirements.
  • Coordinates with Planner/Scheduler to ensure scheduling information is communicated and work orders meet compliance windows.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support operations.
  • Uses CMMS to document work and ensure preventive maintenance timelines.

Description

The Field Engineer, Utilities Maintenance provides input to support engineering activities relative to design, estimating, proposing and implementation of projects involving electro-mechanical applications in setup, testing and acceptance of new equipment applications. Hands-on work for this position will include troubleshooting, PM execution, testing, repairing, modifying/improving and all aspects relative to good maintenance practices, equipment reliability and performance. The incumbent will have a designated focus on equipment within one of the following specialties:

  • Electrical – Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all facilities electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery, including, but not limited to equipment, security, communications, and alarm systems.
  • HVAC/R – Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all facilities HVAC systems including compressors, chillers, air handling units and related equipment. Capable of troubleshooting and repairing low pressure boilers/water heaters and associated equipment. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all coolers, freezers, refrigerators, and incubators.
  • Boiler Operations – Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the site steam and condensate system, including, but not limited to steam boilers, water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, steam & condensate distribution system. Also performs equipment alarm system monitoring and notification while on site.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains utility equipment supporting production schedules and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoots and implements corrective action where equipment experiences performance issues.
  • Identifies, determines, and seeks approvals within guidelines for equipment upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Supports training of equipment owner & maintenance personnel relative to operations and care of electro-mechanical equipment
  • Assists and supports engineering projects involving electro-mechanical applications relative to all facets of design, scope, performance parameters, testing and implementation.
  • Follows Company policy and SOP's relative to all aspects of this position including financial, environmental health and safety, training etc.
  • Coordinates with Planner/Scheduler and supervisors to ensure that adequate scheduling information is communicated and that work orders are completed within compliance windows.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by manager, to support operations.
  • Utilizes CMMS per SOP to assure proper documentation of work as well as compliance with preventive maintenance (PM) requirements and timelines, including the development of such PM requirements.
  • Keeps current on new technologies impacting self-knowledge and the equipment.
Requirements
  • High school degree or GED required with a minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience in a manufacturing, operations, or similar environment.

Additional requirement based on area of focus:

  • Electrical: National Joint Apprenticeship Training - Journeyman Electrician License required. Supervisory or crew/job project leadership experience preferred.
  • HVAC/R: Trained and EPA certified Universal Refrigeration Technician. Supervisory or job project leadership experience preferred.
  • Boiler Operations - 1st class boiler operator license with experience in operation of high-pressure boiler.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
