Job summary

United Utility Services is seeking a Field Engineer to support electric utility construction projects, assisting project managers with engineering tasks, logistics, and planning to ensure safe and timely execution. The role requires two years in the DC office, followed by about 50% travel.

Temporary housing may be available to support field assignments and project deadlines. Bachelors in engineering plus 1–3 years in construction or utility work; proficient in MS Office; valid driver's license

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred).
• 1–3 years in construction or utility field work.
• Familiarity with utility infrastructure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams in planning, coordination, and execution of utility construction activities.
• Interpret construction drawings, utility maps, and specifications for crews and subcontractors.
• Monitor field progress and ensure safety, plans, and quality compliance.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers.
• Perform field surveys, inspections, and as-built documentation.
• Maintain daily logs, progress photos, and quantity tracking.
• Resolve technical or design issues during construction, escalating when needed.
• Ensure locates and permits are in place before construction.
• Support material tracking, equipment logistics, and schedule updates.
• Promote site safety per OSHA and company policies.
