Job summary

Flatiron Construction Corp in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Field Engineer to provide technical engineering information and ensure construction work complies with codes and contract specifications.

You will review shop drawings, support project scheduling, manage cost inputs, and coordinate with crews to keep production on track. Strong communication and related construction engineering knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 1+ year of experience preferred.
• Construction engineering knowledge required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

• Meets daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm materials, equipment and resources are available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
• Collects, coordinates and analyzes shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data to ensure quality and compliance.
• Provides technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements that could impact budget or schedule.
• Evaluates daily production, schedule and budget projections to track project performance and documents activities using approved methods.
• Remits accurate project quantity input and cost coding with finance and accounting teams.
• Reviews and approves daily timecards and assists with payroll inquiries as needed.
• Reviews project specifications for quality assurance at start, during, and after work; manages certificates, inspections, and documentation.
• Plans field layout with crews and engineers; marks utilities and commercial lines; initiates permits as needed.
• Assists development of design drawings and provides technical input; coordinates subcontractor methods.
