Job summary

The Lane Construction Corporation in North Bergen, NJ is seeking a Field Engineer to support a major tunneling project. Join our Field Engineer Development Program (FEDP) for structured training and hands-on experience in project controls, estimating, scheduling, and safety.

This role offers field and office exposure and mentorship with seasoned professionals. You’ll contribute to safe, efficient execution while developing leadership and technical skills essential for advancing in heavy civil

Responsibilities

• Manage office and field responsibilities to support project requirements and ensure work aligns with plans and specs.
• Assist with project scheduling and planning activities.
• Prepare cost and time estimates to help meet budgets and deadlines.
• Perform quantity take-offs and manage submittals.
• Support surveying and layout activities.
• Track job quantities, production rates, and project costs.
• Identify discrepancies between design plans and field conditions and communicate solutions.
• Coordinate with third-party utility providers to locate utilities before construction begins.
• Support project teams with additional duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As a Field Engineer, you will support project teams by helping ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. Responsibilities include:

• Managing both office and field responsibilities to support project requirements, including implementation of scheduled work and tracking project data.
• Assisting with project scheduling and planning activities.
• Preparing cost and time estimates to help meet project budgets and deadlines.
• Performing quantity take-offs.
• Preparing and managing submittals.
• Assisting with surveying and layout activities.
