BUILD Renewables LLC is seeking a Field Engineer Intern to support active solar construction projects. You will assist with field operations, project documentation, QA/QC, production tracking, and coordination activities while learning construction management and renewable energy project delivery.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong interest in renewable energy, EPC project delivery, and field engineering.

Responsibilities

• Field Operations Support: participate in daily safety meetings and site activities; observe and support solar installation activities; assist field teams with project execution and tracking.
• Project Documentation: prepare and maintain daily field reports; assist with recordkeeping and as-built updates; track field issues and resolutions.
• QA/QC: assist with quality inspections and documentation; verify installations against drawings; support punch list development and turnover activities.
• Project Coordination: attend coordination meetings; communicate with project team and subcontractors; learn scheduling, budgeting, and construction management fundamentals.

Position Overview:

The Field Engineer Intern supports the successful execution of active solar construction projects by assisting with field operations, project documentation, quality assurance, production tracking, and coordination activities.

This role provides practical experience in construction management and renewable energy project delivery while working alongside experienced field engineers, superintendents, and project managers.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys working in a fast-paced outdoor environment, and is interested in pursuing a career in construction management, engineering, or renewable energy.

Essential Functions:

Field Operations Support

• Participate in daily safety meetings and site activities
• Observe and support solar installation activities including foundations, racking, modules, and electrical systems
• Assist field teams with project execution and coordination
• Monitor progress and support production tracking efforts

Project Documentation

• Prepare and maintain daily field reports
• Assist with project recordkeeping and documentation
• Support as-built drawing updates and redline markups
• Track field issues and support resolution efforts

Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC)

• Assist with quality inspections and documentation
• Verify installation work against project drawings and specifications
• Support punch list development and closeout activities
• Participate in project commissioning and turnover activities as assigned
• Assist with material receiving and inventory verification
• Compare delivered materials against project bill of materials (BOM)
• Support material tracking and field logistics activities

Project Coordination

• Attend project coordination meetings
• Communicate effectively with project team members and subcontractors
• Support issue tracking and resolution processes
• Learn project scheduling, budgeting, and construction management fundamentals

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a two -year or four-year program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong interest in renewable energy, EPC project delivery, and field engineering
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Willingness to travel to and live near active project sites
• Valid driver’s license required

Working Conditions:

• 100% travel required; projects are nationally based
• Construction Site Environment – Ability to lift 50+ lbs., crawl, bend, reach, and climb; exposed to noise, dust, and weather
• Office/Shop Environment – Some standing, lifting, and computer work
• Exposure to all weather conditions for extended periods

Employee Status: Temporary/Seasonal

Hourly / Pay Range: $20-$23 + $300 weekly subsistence

Location: 100% travel required; projects are nationally based
