Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Internship seeks a Field Engineer Intern to support construction site engineering activities, interpret and adjust designs for field conditions, manage technical issues, and ensure conformance to specifications. You will assist with supervising construction tasks and may participate in field/office rotations across US sites.

Candidates must be pursuing a related bachelor's degree and demonstrate safety awareness, strong communication, and collaborative problem solving

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or related Degree.
• Ability to read and understand engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability.
• Ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
• Aptitude for conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards.
• Aptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic construction engineering principles.
• Knowledge of construction safety.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to meet project needs.
• Eligibility for this position requires sole US citizenship and ability to obtain site access.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing procedures, administrative and technical documents.
• May prepare or approve purchase requisitions for materials and services.
• Reviews Lessons Learned and collaborates with corporate personnel and other projects.

Position Overview

As a Field Engineer Intern, you will assist as the construction site engineering resource and expertise throughout the construction of a project. You will be responsible for interpreting designs, adjusting designs to meet site conditions per protocol, managing technical issues, performing quality inspections, monitoring technical submittals, and ensuring configuration management. With your engineering discipline focus, you will support construction supervision and final technical approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications. You will make decisions regarding methods independently, and working with the Construction Managers, apply financial commitment authority for field changes.

Location

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions, headquartered in Lenexa, KS, manages projects and operates offices across the US. Candidates must be willing to travel and relocate as necessary. Specific project assignments and locations will be determined closer to the start date. Field engineers may rotate between field and office work.

Responsibilities
