Job summary

Ames Construction, Inc. is seeking a motivated student or early-career professional to join our field team in Ohio.

The role supports project teams on heavy civil and industrial infrastructure, focusing on safety, quality, scheduling, and coordination with owners, design partners, and subcontractors. You are pursuing a degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or have equivalent experience.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Instill Safety as a top priority on the job site.
  • Assist with managing and supporting a team of construction coworkers.
  • Build relationships and communicate with coworkers, owners, design partners, subcontractors.
  • Review and draft technical submittals such as schedule, shop drawings, work plans, etc.
  • Monitor quality control, safety and environmental programs.
  • Understand and assist with project layout.
  • Identify critical work items and procure long-lead items.
  • Assist with contract administration including budget and change procedures.
  • Assist with material procurement including logistics.
  • Collaborate to resolve field problems with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce.
  • Maintain as-built drawings and manuals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Experience, Education & Skills Preferred
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Pursuing degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Desire to grow and develop career and mentor other coworkers.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
