Job summary

V2X Inc. seeks a multi-disciplined Field Engineer to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's PIDS deployed at metro NY airports. The role involves integration, testing, maintenance, and support of a 24/7 surveillance system across multiple facilities in the NY/NJ region.

The candidate should be self-starting with strong written and verbal communication skills, and comfortable interfacing with computing, networks, and control applications in an operational environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years professional field engineering experience.
• Experience supporting logistics and warehouse activities.
• Experience troubleshooting field equipment issues.
• Experience monitoring availability and performance of subsystems.
• Proficient with Windows/Microsoft Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel).
• Ability to obtain a SIDA badge from assigned airports.

General Function

V2X is seeking a multi-disciplined Field Engineer to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's Perimeter Intrusion and Detection System (PIDS) deployed at the metro NY airports. The PIDS Field Engineer works as part of a New York/New Jersey based System Engineering and Maintenance team that designs, builds, integrates, tests, maintains, and supports this 24 * 7 operational surveillance system.

This position will interface with many areas of the operational system including computing infrastructure, networks and command and control applications. The selected candidate should be self-starting and inquisitive with good written and verbal communication skills and thrive in the challenges of working in an operational environment.

Specific Duties

• Assist the maintenance team in troubleshooting issues with equipment failures in the field.
• Provide maintenance support of the primary and secondary subsystems.
• Provide support to technicians and engineering team with system maintenance activities.
• Monitor availability and performance of assigned subsystems.
• Provide engineering support for new projects and design changes.
• Perform integration and test of new sensors.
• Support logistics and warehouse activities.
• Support engineering with incident analysis and engineering investigations / bench tests.

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years professional experience
• Experience supporting logistics and warehouse activities
• Experience with troubleshooting issues with equipment failures in the field.
• Experience with monitoring availability and performance of assigned sub systems.
• Experience with Windows/Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Ability to obtain SIDA badge from the assigned airports

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field

Physical Activities

• Climbing up and down stairs/ladders, as required.

Location

• The candidate must live in the New York City / Northern New Jersey metro area and be able to work from our offices at either the Newark, LaGuardia, or JFK airports. A 24/7 on call rotation is a requirement for this position
