Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation seeks a Field Engineer to join the Honolulu, HI, HART project team. You will work with the Superintendent to ensure materials, equipment and resources are available to keep production on schedule and within budget.

You will review drawings, analyze specifications, and provide input for work plans while coordinating with crews, subcontractors and the project office. Safety, quality and timely reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or similar.
• 3+ years of civil construction field experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with project teams.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily with project crews to review the production schedule.
• Coordinate shop drawings, design specifications and material requirements.
• Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling.
• Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections.
• Review and approve daily timecards for all construction crews.
• Plan field layout and mark utilities and lines before production.
• Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safety meetings.
• Assist estimating team with project schedules.
• Coordinate subcontractor work methods and crews.
• Reconcile close-out checklists with owner and field crews.

The scope of the approximately $1.66 billion contract includes the design and construction of six rail stations and approximately three miles of elevated rail guideway beginning just east of the Middle Street Transit Center Station and ending at the Civic Center Station, which will be located just east of the intersection of Halekauwila Street and South Street in downtown Honolulu. Project design is expected to begin immediately while construction is estimated to commence in the second half of 2025. Construction of this segment is expected to be substantially completed in 2030.Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional Talent.DESCRIPTION:As a Field Engineer at Tutor Perini Corp., reporting to the Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to:Meet daily with project crews to review the production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budgetCollect, coordinate and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification complianceProvide technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or scheduleEvaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Document daily activities in Company approved methods and technologiesPerform additional assignments per management’s directionRemit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manage cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment and subcontractor needsReview and approve daily timecards for all Company construction crews. Work with Office Manager, payroll and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard inquiries, as neededReview project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work and after work completes. Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections and other documentation regarding construction production on the project siteWork with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins. Initiate and manage any permits needed before work can beginConduct the required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.
