Job summary

Gibraltar Fabrication in Eagle Pass, TX seeks a motivated Field/Project Engineer to support heavy civil and infrastructure construction projects. This field-focused role bridges the field and project team, emphasizing earthwork, utilities, documentation, and public agency compliance.

You’ll work with Project Managers and Superintendents, review drawings, perform layout verification, manage RFIs and submittals in Procore, and help ensure safety and quality on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 0-2+ years in heavy civil or infrastructure construction (internships accepted).
• Experience managing RFIs, submittals, and drawings in Procore.
• Exposure to geotechnical or construction materials testing.
• Familiarity with public works standards (DOT, municipal, AASHTO, FHWA).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily with Project Managers and Superintendents to support field operations.
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals for field compliance.
• Support layout verification, line/grade checks, and clarification of technical details.
• Assist with earthwork, utilities, drainage, and related infrastructure work.
• Perform quantity take-offs, track installed quantities, and support pay applications and cost tracking.
• Coordinate materials testing activities.
• Inspect materials and workmanship to verify contract compliance.
• Interface with field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, utility agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Support safety compliance related to trenching, traffic control, and work around heavy equipment.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and field documentation.
• Identify field issues proactively and assist with resolution, including support for change order documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of workplans and JHAs.
