Job summary

Rosendin Electric is hiring a Field Engineer to support projects on job sites with onsite presence. You will provide technical engineering design, consultation, and assistance under supervision to ensure compliance with standards and design intent.

The role requires a Bachelor's in electrical engineering or equivalent, plus the ability to learn SKM/ETAP and Autodesk tools, coordinate with multiple trades, and manage tasks to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee designers or collaborate with the team on project work.
  • Review equipment submittals and RFIs.
  • Assist senior engineers with field observations and design updates.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural, and trades on site.
  • Prepare power, lighting, and auxiliary system designs.
  • Develop or update single-line diagrams.
  • Coordinate with project specs and equipment buy-out.
  • Participate in project team meetings and interface with stakeholders.
  • Work with engineering supervisor to meet criteria and budget.
  • Review plans and contract documents under supervision.

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

Field Engineer is engineering position to directly support projects and is located on jobsites or with regular onsite presence and is expected to learn and develop competency in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Part of the responsibility will be to provide technical engineering design, consultation, information, and assistance to internal and external customers under the direct supervision of the Engineering Team Lead or Manager to ensure that the project complies with all engineering standards and follows the electrical design intent.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • May oversee or collaborate with Designers assigned to your work or team.
  • Review, comment, and process equipment and system submittals.
  • Review, comment, and process project requests for information (RFIs).
  • Assist senior engineers with field observations, design interpretations, and design updates during construction.
  • Assist on site field and project management team and develop skills pertaining to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors.
  • Perform coordination between architectural, structural, low voltage/communications, mechanical, and plumbing processes and all electrical trades.
  • Prepare or update designs, check, and specify power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for the specific project(s) assigned.
  • Develop or update power single-line diagrams for the specific projects assigned.
  • Review short circuit studies and verify over current protection device settings in the field.
  • Coordinate with the project specifications or equipment buy-out.
  • Participate in project team meetings. May interface with various team members, architects, and mechanical contractors/engineers.
  • Work closely with the engineering supervisor to understand design criteria and budgetary issues.
  • Assist with the review of plans and technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates under the supervision of a senior engineer.

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or equivalent experience.
  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Ability to learn Engineering Analytic programs for short circuits, over current coordination, and arc flash mitigation programs, e.g., SKM, E-Tap, etc.
  • Develop familiarity with codes, and energy efficiency requirements
  • Ability to learn and become competent in Autodesk, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), and Illuminance software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under the supervisor's direction.
  • Ability to work to meet deadlines and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally.
TRAVEL:
  • 100% - The position is based on project jobsites
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
  • Noise level is usually low to medium
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
