Job summary

TerraFirma, founded by SpaceX alumni and backed by investors, is redefining how earthmoving is done. As a Field Engineer on our on-site team in Austin, you will oversee operations, ensure alignment with digital plans, and integrate automation tools and tele-operations to deliver high-quality earthworks.

The role requires 1–4 years in site prep, civil engineering or related field, plus experience with heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years in site prep/excavation with field ops exposure.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Experience operating heavy equipment (functional proficiency).

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical oversight ensuring earthworks align with plans and budget.
• Coordinate on-site activities including scheduling equipment and labor.
• Train and manage operators in automated and remote-controlled earth-moving equipment.
• Operate heavy equipment at a functional level to support peak workloads.
• Monitor and troubleshoot machine control systems and teleoperations.
• Conduct quality control checks like soil compaction and grade verification.
• Interpret and manage survey layout and staking.
• Maintain daily logs and progress reports via mobile apps.
• Ensure safety compliance with industry standards for automated construction.
• Support site demobilization and client handover with proper documentation.
