Job summary

Flying A Pumping Services, LLC in Texas is seeking an entry-level Field Engineer 1 to assist in executing and optimizing hydraulic fracturing operations at the well site. This role blends fieldwork, data analysis, and teamwork to deliver high-quality services to oil and gas clients.

You will support setup and monitoring of fracturing activities, record operational data, use Fracpro and Microsoft Office Suite to analyze results, and participate in safety meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in relevant engineering fields.
  • Internships or co-op experience in oilfield services or hydraulic fracturing preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with Fracpro software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the setup, monitoring, and execution of fracturing operations at the well site.
  • Collaborates with field personnel to ensure proper functioning of equipment and safety protocols.
  • Monitors and records operational parameters, aligning with job design and client specs.
  • Gathers and analyzes real-time data during fracturing, including pressure, flow rates, and chemical usage.
  • Uses specialized software to model fracturing processes and optimize job performance.
  • Provides recommendations based on data analysis to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assists in maintenance and troubleshooting of fracturing equipment such as pumps, blenders, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensures equipment is calibrated and functioning before operations commence.
  • Coordinates with maintenance teams for repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Adheres to company and client HSE policies and procedures.
  • Participates in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Reports incidents or safety concerns to supervisor promptly.
  • Interfaces with clients at the well site, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Prepares and presents post-job reports with key metrics and recommendations.
  • Stays updated with industry trends and best practices in hydraulic fracturing.
  • Attends training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and skills.

Position Summary

The Field Engineer 1 is responsible for assisting in the execution and optimization of hydraulic fracturing operations at the well site. This entry-level position provides technical support to the field team, ensuring safe and efficient fracturing activities. The role involves a combination of fieldwork, data analysis, and interaction with various operational teams to deliver high-quality services to clients in the oil and gas industry.

Key Roles / Responsibilities

  • Monitors and records operational parameters, ensuring alignment with job design and client specifications.
  • Gathers and analyzes real‑time data during fracturing operations, including pressure, flow rates, and chemical usage.
  • Utilizes specialized software to model fracturing processes and optimize job performance.
  • Provides recommendations based on data analysis to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of fracturing equipment, including pumps, blenders, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensures that all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly before operations commence.

Required Education, Experience, And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Entry‑level position: internships or co‑op experience in oilfield services, hydraulic fracturing, or related areas is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficient with Fracpro software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
Working Conditions
  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, bright lights, dust, fumes, and gases; all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
  • Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats when needed.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
