Job description

The Field Engineer is responsible for managing large and complex construction work at the project site to ensure operations run safely, smoothly, and effectively. This position is classified as “safety-sensitive.”

Essential Functions

• Design temporary structures used during construction with emphasis on safety considerations
• Inspect installed equipment and technologies, solve issues that may arise
• Direct foremen or workers on site
• Conduct research and accurately report on project status
• Perform quality control inspections and check work for compliance with contract documents
• Verify proper materials are used and that installations meet project timelines and requirements
• Affirm safety compliance and enforce proper protocols and PPE on site
• May oversee project budget and communications

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field
• A minimum of one (1) year of previous experience as a field engineer or similar role
• Well‑versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery, equipment, and construction processes
• Thorough understanding of safety guidelines (OSHA statutes)
• Attention to detail
• Outstanding communication skills
• An analytical mind and strong problem‑solving ability
• Ability to work in adverse weather and occasional overtime and weekends

Working Conditions

• Travel – this role will be expected to travel to project locations, sometimes nationally
• Construction site environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. May be exposed to high noise levels.

Compensation

$55,000-$75,000
