Kimley-Horn’s Childress, Texas office is seeking a Field Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their team. This is not a remote position and relocation may be required to support large-scale projects.

You will lead site and civil construction activities, coordinating between design teams, owners, contractors, and authorities. The role requires strong organizational skills, safety commitment, and the ability to review RFIs, submittals, and field observations.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant construction experience; large-scale industrial experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred.
• Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
• Experience in construction management software (ACC, Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid) preferred.
• Ability to interpret complex civil design plans and specifications.
• Commitment to safety and strong communication skills.

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Childress, Texas (TX) office is seeking a Field Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

The Construction Field Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating site and civil construction‑phase services on large, complex projects to verify the constructed work substantially conforms to the approved design intent and contract documents prepared by Kimley-Horn. This role serves as the central point of integration between the design team, owner, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction during construction. Candidates must be open to relocation as needed.

The position requires strong organizational skills and professional judgment to manage high volumes of project information, including RFIs, submittals, meeting documentation, and field observations. The Construction Field Engineer oversees the timely and accurate review of contractor submittals and RFIs, facilitates and participates in construction meetings, and maintains clear, well‑documented communication among all parties.

Through on-site construction observations and reporting, the role verifies that installed site and civil components are consistent with the plans, specifications, and applicable standards, and identifies potential deviations or constructability issues early. The Construction Field Engineer helps resolve issues in a manner consistent with the contract documents while supporting project schedule, quality, and risk management objectives.

This position plays a key role in bridging design and execution, protecting the owner’s and designer’s interests’ thorough documentation, proactive coordination, and disciplined construction‑phase oversight.

Qualifications
