Job summary

Nicholson Construction is seeking a field support engineer to provide technical, quality control and administrative support to Superintendents, Project Engineers and Project Managers on our job sites near Manhattan, NY. This is a temporary, full-time role.

You will perform field quality control tests, manage records, order materials, and assist with change orders, drawing interpretations and surveys while ensuring compliance with Nicholson's Quality Control Manual.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree is required with 0-3 years construction industry experience.
• Basic knowledge of bidding and job costing procedures.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical, quality control and administrative support to Superintendents, Project Engineers and Project Managers on job sites.
• Performs field quality control tests in accordance with the QC Manual.
• Prepares and manages quality control and production records.
• Orders materials, writes purchase orders, and tracks inventory.
• Runs small work crews on technical tasks like water testing and load testing.
• Assists in interpretation of drawings and resolves conflicts or errors.
• Performs field surveys and resolves geometry issues.
• Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work.
• Contributes to change order documentation and claim analysis.
• Ensures all installations follow Nicholson Quality Control Manual.

Summary

• Provides technical, quality control and administrative support to Superintendents, Project Engineers and Project Managers on job sites.
• This is a temporary, full time position located at our jobsite near Manhattan, NY.

Essential Functions

• Ensures that all Nicholson and OSHA safety regulations are followed and enforced
• Ensures that all Nicholson and OSHA safety regulations are followed and enforced
• Performs field quality control tests
• Prepares and manage quality control and production records
• Orders materials, writes purchase orders, and tracks inventory
• Runs small work crews (technical tasks like water testing, load testing, etc.)
• Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors
• Performs field surveys and resolves geometry issues
• Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work
• Assists in preparation of change order documentation and claim analysis
• Ensures all installation follows Nicholson Quality Control Manual

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree is required along with 0-3 years of construction equipment/ techniques (i.e. drawings, specifications, building materials, surveying, design, or geotechnical work)
• Prior construction site work experience a plus.
• Basic knowledge of bidding and job costing procedures
• Knowledgeable in structural and geotechnical designs related to our techniques
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• Converse effectively using both verbal and written communication.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry, pull and push at least 40 pounds
