Job summary

Welkin Mechanical is seeking a Field Engineer to support mechanical construction projects. You will plan tasks, develop basic installation drawings, coordinate with multiple trades, and assist with cost control and scheduling.

You’ll engage with Project Engineers, Cost Managers and PMs to deliver timely, quality outcomes. The ideal candidate has a mechanical/engineering background, familiarity with drawings and MS Office, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment focused on safety

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, or related) or equivalent experience.
  • 10-hour and/or 30-hour OSHA certificates preferred.
  • Proficiency in engineering computations and analysis.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • AutoCAD proficiency preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
  • Strong teamwork and ability to take direction from management.
  • Must be safety oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen and Crews on project deliverables.
  • Process/manage material deliveries and ensure proper inspection for quantity and quality per contract documents.
  • Assist with management of subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals and resubmittals.
  • Analyze construction costs within cost control system.
  • Assist with monthly pay requisitions data and reporting.
  • Prepare required reports and documentation.
  • Perform surveys.
  • Support day-to-day planning and safe work plan creation with PM/APM/Project Engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Field Engineer, applies basic concepts and techniques to plan projects, develops basic installation drawings and contributes to intermediate project milestones. The Field Engineer, works closely with the various trades while also getting input from Cost Managers & Project Management to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions. Engineers follow the designs from beginning to end; survey, drafting, installation drawings, manufacturing, installation, & final acceptance. In addition, Engineers will manage sub-contractor coordination and engineering. All steps are done while constantly integrating Multidisciplinary Engineering Design and promoting individual learning to achieve the desired solution.

Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, or related engineering disciplines (or equivalent experience).
  • 10-hour and/or 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen and Crews on Project Deliverables.
  • Process/manage material deliveries – ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and follow contract documents.
  • Assist with management of subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.
  • Varying levels of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
  • Accumulate all necessary data and assist with preparation of monthly pay requisitions.
  • Prepare required reports and documentation.
  • Perform surveys.
  • Follow lead from PM/APM/Project Engineers to administer day-to-day activities such a planning access and preparing work plans and safe work plans.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of the Position
  • Proficiency in basic engineering computations and analysis.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiencies in the use of AutoCAD preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
  • Strong understanding of teamwork and the impact that an individual has on group success.
  • Ability to accept firm guidance from management.
  • Must be safety oriented.

Salary Range: $85,000 — $130,000 USD
