Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Field Engineer in Austin, Texas, to provide on-site construction observation and coordination for data center projects. You will act as the owner's representative, coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors to keep work aligned with contract documents, quality expectations, and schedule.

The role also involves tracking RFIs, submittals, and drawings, producing daily status reports, and ensuring safety and code compliance across industrial projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience; 4+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Write daily progress reports including schedule status and inspections.
  • Review and interpret contract documents with design engineers as needed.

IMEG is hiring a Field Engineer in Austin, Texas, to provide on-site construction observation and coordination support on complex projects with a focus on data centers. This role represents the owner's interest in the field, works closely with contractors and design engineers, and helps keep projects aligned with contract documents, quality expectations, and schedule needs.

The Field Engineer supports in-office engineering teams by tracking RFIs, submittals, and drawing revisions, documenting project status, and escalating issues that could affect progress or liability. This role also helps monitor code compliance, safety protocols, and closeout documentation across industrial and manufacturing projects.

What You'll Do
  • Provide on-site presence to represent the owner's interest during construction.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to support project objectives and document meeting minutes.
  • Write daily reports on construction status, including schedule delays, issues, workflow summaries, upcoming work, and inspections.
  • Review, clarify, and interpret contract documents, and obtain information from design engineers as needed.
  • Issue and track project deficiency reports, and provide constructability feedback to engineers.
  • Coordinate with the architect and design engineer on construction coordination issues, and document project events and circumstances.
  • Track current drawings and ensure contractors have corrected revisions.
  • Monitor RFI and submittal completion by the design team, and communicate critical path items to the field and design team.
  • Help address construction issues and conflicts to keep work on track.
  • Assist the client and design team with work observation and collection of closeout documentation from the contractor.
  • Support compliance with building codes, regulations, industry standards, and site safety protocols.
  • Prepare and present reports, progress summaries, and other documentation to senior management and clients as required.
What You'll Bring
Required
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (Science) in Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred; field experience or skilled trades a plus
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to travel 100% and work onsite at assigned project locations, including extended overnight and long-term stays. Employees will be assigned to a project site and are expected to live and work in the project area until their next project assignment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think critically and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to individuals or groups
  • Must be familiar with design processes and interpretation of architectural and engineering design documents including but not limited to structural, mechanical, civil, and electrical
  • Knowledge of design and construction principles, technical drawings, construction methods, materials, and safety regulations applicable to building and infrastructure projects
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Valid driver's license required. Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check and travel to construction sites as necessary to support project and business operations
  • Ability to acquire a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card within 90 days of employment
  • Complete Miner Safety Health Administration (MSHA) training within 30-days of employment

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
  • Required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
  • Will have exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

State of Colorado Pay Range: $38-$45 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
