Job summary

Wichita State University is seeking up to five highly motivated technicians to assist in data collection for a collaborative research project examining the response of plants, birds, and soils to cattle grazing on CRP grasslands in Kansas and Colorado.

Field work will involve traveling to rural sites, collecting vegetation data, and maintaining careful records. The position ends August 8, 2025, with shared housing near field sites in rural Kansas and Colorado.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver’s license and willing to drive rental field vehicles on gravel and muddy roads.

Responsibilities

• Collect vegetation structural data, plant species abundance, and plant biomass.
• Data entry and quality control; equipment preparation and maintenance.
• Hike long distances into field sites and transport equipment to sampling locations.
• Field work hours include early mornings, long days, and variable weather; training begins mid-late May 2025.
