Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic for Customer Equipment Solutions. You will perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment at customer sites with limited supervision, delivering safe, high-quality service daily.

Requirements include a high school diploma and 5+ years of repair experience. You will travel to job sites, document work, and assist with tech training, contributing to a values-driven team that prioritizes safety and customer care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Knowledge of construction equipment and engines.
• Understanding of schematics/diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment with minimal supervision.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance; maintain a clean, professional service vehicle.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Complete work orders and documentation promptly.
• Upsell and demonstrate complex equipment to customers.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and toolsli>
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
