Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech IV - Field Service) in California to repair and maintain complex equipment with limited supervision. You will service a variety of rental and customer equipment and ensure safety and quality on every job.

You’ll travel to customer sites, document work orders, mentor junior technicians, and uphold outstanding customer service while supporting the Service Department’s goals and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; maintain service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work orders daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
