Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions to maintain and repair complex equipment on customer-owned gear with minimal supervision. You’ll work safely and professionally, delivering top-notch service on every site.

Travel to customer sites, train junior technicians when needed, document work orders, upsell and demonstrate equipment, and assist with pickup and delivery of parts. A strong mechanical background and toolbox are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Knowledge of construction equipment and engines.
• Understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
• Assist in training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders).
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
