Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment at customer sites and in the field.

You will travel to job sites, diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel system issues, and complete paperwork promptly. This role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, 3–5 years of repair experience, ownership of tools, and strong safety and customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and knowledge of engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Strong customer service, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex equipment with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; keep service vehicle clean.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work orders daily.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties as assigned.

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service), you'll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you\'ll do:

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver\'s license with acceptable driving record
• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
