Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech IV - Field Service) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment across customer sites with minimal supervision.

You will handle electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, travel to job sites, and train junior technicians. The role emphasizes safety, quality service, and customer satisfaction while supporting career growth in the Service Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed
