Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, is hiring a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech IV - Field Service) in Texas. You’ll perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment with limited supervision while upholding safety and quality standards.

This role offers opportunities for leadership in the Service Department, strong customer service focus, and travel to customer sites to service rental and customer-owned equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment.
• Travel to customer sites to repair/maintain equipment; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain accurate paperwork and electronic records of work orders daily.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements
