Field Design Engineer — Power Generation Documentation

Job summary

PG&E is seeking Field Design Engineers to maintain and update engineering records at hydroelectric facilities across California. This role requires frequent travel to multiple sites, with designs, drawings, and documentation updated to reflect AsFound/AsBuilt conditions.

The position offers hybrid work with a starting hourly wage of $45.96, governed by bargaining agreements and location-based factors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience and education.
• Knowledge of national specs and basic engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of Power Generation safety programs and requirements; identifies and resolves unsafe situations; promotes safety among team.
• Under supervision, performs design engineering work for jobs or parts thereof.
• Manage engineering records, correct documentation and verify facility conditions.
• Track and audit drawings, documents and CAD files; keep AsFound/AsBuilt updated per processes.
• Travel up to 75% to multiple facilities; work onsite as needed and remote travel.
• Schedule and coordinate site visits with operations and maintenance/engineering teams.
• Coordinate with engineers, project management, contractors and stakeholders to ensure proper documentation.
• Support information requests for physical and electronic records at hydro facilities.
• Prepare designs, calculations, drawings and studies from inspections and instructions.
• Check drawings and designs; ensure accuracy.
• Lead and guide junior staff on allied tasks.
