Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services is seeking Field Data Technicians to collect detailed field data on outdoor electric utility and telecom facilities. The role involves hiking between pole spans to capture data for outside plant engineering and fiber-optic projects.

Position requires routine overnight travel and may include longer stays. Training is provided, and eligible employees receive a competitive hourly wage with benefits and travel allowances.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting 15 to 20 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Basic proficiency with computers including the ability to read, interpret and follow GPS maps.
  • Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high-quality, high paced environment.
  • Ability to travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities.
  • Submit organized, detailed data for each project that could include maps, field notes and digital images.
  • Operate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers.
  • Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team.
  • Work safely and independent of supervision.
