Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. is hiring Field Data Technicians to collect data on fiber optic facilities in outdoor environments. You will measure heights, spans and angles, and submit detailed project data with maps and photos.

The role requires routine overnight travel 1–2 weeks at a time, with home weekends. Starting pay is $24.50/hour plus potential bonuses, travel allowances and overtime considerations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and perform physically demanding work lifting 15–20 lbs regularly.
Basic proficiency with computers including reading and following GPS maps.
Ability to follow process specifications in a high‑quality, fast-paced environment.
Travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather; reliable transportation required.
Excellent written and oral communication; professional appearance and attitude.
Minimum 1 year outdoor work-related experience; safety program experience; quality-controlled environment exposure; overnight travel.

Responsibilities

Work outdoors to collect field data supporting fiber optic facilities design.

Overview

Summary of Position

We are currently seeking candidates for Field Data Technicians in the Kentucky area!

Field Data Technicians will start at $24.50/hour plus opportunity for hourly bonus with weekly pay! Plus hotel expenses, contract specific pay increase, living allowance and $4-$5/hour untaxed reimbursement for vehicle usage.

An Osmose Field Technician is responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment. It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data that supports outside plant engineering and various fiber-optic construction projects. Osmose will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties. This position requires routine overnight travel typically 1-2 weeks at a time away from home. Home most weekends with occasional out of state assignments which may involve longer stays of up to a month at a time if needed.

Responsibilities

Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities. This will include measurements of attachment heights, span distances, angles, etc...
Submit organized, detailed data for each project that could include maps, field notes and digital images.
Operate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools and Personal Protective Equipment.
Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers.
Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team.
Work safely and independent of supervision.

Must have reliable transportation.
