Overview
The Field CTO will serve as a strategic bridge between Sonar’s senior leadership and the world’s most sophisticated enterprise technology leaders. The role will focus on market evangelism and deep technical advisory to enhance Sonar’s brand reputation, influence product roadmap, and shape go‑to‑market strategy. Frequent travel to customer sites and Sonar’s offices worldwide is required.
Core Responsibilities
- Executive Advisory & Engagement – Conduct strategic advisory conversations with CTOs, Chief Architects, and VP-level technology leaders, helping them justify the technical path to measurable business impact with Sonar’s platform.
- External Thought Leadership & Brand Building – Represent Sonar at conferences, webinars, executive briefings, and engage with press and industry analysts.
- Executive Enablement & Partnerships – Leverage professional networks to facilitate strategic engagements for Sonar’s leadership, identify, develop, and support strategic technology partnerships, and orchestrate complex client initiatives.
- Technical Content Creation – Lead high‑impact technical content such as whitepapers, reference architectures, and advanced blog posts that showcase expertise across the SDLC.
- GTM Strategy & Product Feedback – Analyze industry‑specific trends, co‑create industry solutions, and provide executive insights to product management, GTM, and architecture teams to influence product roadmaps.
- Strategic Sales Support & Technical Validation – Support complex sales cycles with technical credibility, build customized architectural walkthroughs and proofs‑of‑concept that demonstrate Sonar’s value in real‑world environments.
- Internal Multiplier & Mentorship – Provide specialized mentorship and high‑level architectural guidance to TA and SE teams, and assist with top‑tier technical recruiting.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in software development, solutions architecture, or a related field; proven senior strategic technology leadership (e.g., Divisional CTO, VP Solutions Architect) at a major global enterprise or leading technology company.
- Proven experience in a customer‑facing technical role such as Field CTO, Solutions Architect, or Technical Advisory within a major cloud provider or global technology institution.
- Deep expertise and thought leadership on SDLC, AI, large‑scale application security, and modern engineering practices.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into strategic business implications for C‑level audiences.
- Customer‑centric mindset with proven success in fast‑paced, high‑growth technology or SaaS environments; alignment with Sonar’s culture of high standards, urgency, and velocity.
