Job summary

Nisqually Red Wind Casino is seeking a Field Crew Lead to support the Natural Resources Department. The role involves independently performing skilled technical duties, leading technicians, and assisting in project design and implementation for program objectives.

You will oversee sample and data collection, maintain field equipment, and ensure safe, orderly workspaces while collaborating with the Field Crew Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 4 years' experience in Technician position or a comparable combination of experience and/or education.
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and be insurable under Nisqually Indian Tribe's insurance policy.
  • Ability to work during irregular hours including weekends and holidays and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to implement projects and may serve as a project lead to lower level technicians.
  • Assist in leading the implementation of sample and data collection.
  • Perform basic reporting.
  • Assist in project design and assist in coordination of project implementation.
  • Carry out specific technical duties assigned by supervisor in annual work plan.
  • Represent the program positively to the community.
  • Ensure operation and maintenance of program equipment, including heavy equipment when necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring clean, orderly, safe workspaces.
  • Assist in development of annual program workplan.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Nature of Work:

This position independently performs skilled technical duties or assists the Field Crew Supervisor with project leadership. The Field Crew Lead also assists in project design necessary to implement program objectives of the Natural Resources Department.

This position has regular contact with or control over Indian Children and Vulnerable Adults. In compliance with Federal Law, this position will not be filled by an applicant with any felonious offense or any of two or more misdemeanor offenses under Federal, State, or Tribal law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact, or prostitution; crimes against persons; or offenses committed against children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of fisheries biology fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of basic fisheries field techniques.
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and to delegate.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate and maintain small boats, motors, trucks, and field equipment.
  • Ability to identify species relative to program assignment.
  • Ability to survey in river data accurately.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in difficult conditions.
  • Skill in basic computer operations.
  • Knowledge of all functions and operations within assigned program.
Minimum Qualifications:
