Job summary

Maxim is seeking an experienced heavy equipment technician to inspect, diagnose and repair crane systems, engines and electrical equipment. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspect machines, read blueprints, and fabricate replacement parts using specialty tools.

You will work with cranes and heavy vehicles, ensure compliance with OEM specs, and operate hoists and forklifts as needed. CDL and drug/background checks apply.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; Associates or Vocational degree preferred.
  • 5+ years' mechanical experience with heavy equipment and crane equipment.
  • 3+ years' experience with diesel, gasoline, and propane engines.
  • CDL preferred and able to pass drug test, background check, and fit-for-duty.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical, hydraulic and other basic systems.
  • Operate hoists, forklifts, and hand trucks to move and assemble heavy equipment.
  • Inspect machines to diagnose defects and determine repairs; test after repair to OEM specs.
  • Read manuals and blueprints; fabricate or install replacement parts using specialty tools.
  • Repair and replace damaged parts and troubleshoot electrical systems.

Job description

PurposeMechanics inspect, diagnose, maintain or repair the crane systems, from its body to engines and electrical or computer systems. Fleet vehicles include cranes, crane equipment, boom trucks, trailers, pickup trucks, and semis.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, brakes and other basic componentsOperate hoists, forklifts, and/or hand trucks to handle, dismantle and reassemble heavy material and equipmentAbility to operate and perform a thorough inspection of machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects, faults, or malfunctions and determine required repairsTest mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers and OEM specificationsClean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehiclesRead and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawingsFabricates, modifies, and installs special equipment or replacement parts using specialty toolsExamine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gaugesRepair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systemsRepair and replace damaged or worn parts on vehicles and equipmentPerform other duties as assignedWhy Maxim?Our work impacts our local communities, helping transform where people live, work and play.
