JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Field Coordinator - Distribution is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of all distribution construction, maintenance, restoration, and switching activities through thorough and proactive planning. This role focuses on anticipating hazards, validating switching orders, determining when EWP/DWP analysis is needed, and embedding Life Critical Rules, grounding requirements, clearance expectations, and safe-work practices directly into pre-job documentation – including executing where applicable. The Field Coordinator - Distribution validates all work packages against approved standards, assemblies, and work methods, performing site assessments, access reviews, and material verification to eliminate rework and prevent delays. By preparing switching packages, outage steps, and sequencing plans, the coordinator supports safe system operations and collaborates closely with Operations using DACT and OMS insights to strengthen restoration readiness.

Execution readiness is a core function—ensuring that permits, materials, equipment, logistics, environmental requirements, and jobsite conditions are fully prepared before crews mobilize. The Field Coordinator - Distribution works across Field Crews, Dispatch, and Supply Chain, teams to resolve constraints and maintain workflow continuity. Additionally, the role provides technical coaching, clarifies expectations, anticipates constructability challenges, and participates in post-job reviews to strengthen planning quality, reinforce safe and consistent work practices, and prevent future planning-driven issues.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety Leadership & High‑Risk Planning - Anticipates and identifies hazards in distribution work before execution; determines when EWP/DWP is required; embeds Life Critical Rules, grounding, clearances, and Safe Work Practices into all pre-job documentation; and ensures safety controls and equipment are in place before crews mobilize.
  • Standards Compliance, Quality Control & Work Package Validation - Ensures distribution jobs align with construction and maintenance standards; performs pre-construction reviews, site assessments, and material verification; and uses structured QA/QC (redlines, as‑builts, specification checks) to eliminate discrepancies before field execution.
  • System Operations Support, Switching Readiness & Outage Planning - Prepares and validates switching packages, isolation points, and outage steps for distribution work; coordinates with Distribution Operations Center (DOC) to ensure safe sequencing; and applies knowledge of DACT/OMS to support restoration readiness for routine and emergent events.
  • Execution Readiness & Work Enablement - Confirms distribution jobs are fully ready by validating access, environmental needs, permits, logistics, equipment staging, and material availability; resolves constraints early and coordinates across Construction, Dispatch, and Supply Chain, to ensure smooth field execution.
  • Technical Coaching, Troubleshooting & Field Support - Enhances crew success by clarifying job expectations, preparing accurate and actionable work plans, resolving planning‑phase challenges, participating in post‑job reviews, and intervening early when documentation or work‑practice gaps could compromise safety or quality
