Job summary

Tuff Shed Inc. in Mobile, AL is seeking a Field Construction Technician to join our team responsible for delivering, installing and servicing Tuff Shed storage buildings.

You will handle warranty work, customer service on-site, and coordinate with Home Depot stores and customers. A valid driver's license and ability to operate basic power tools are required.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of the construction industry.
• Basic carpentry, roofing, and painting skills.
• Ability to read a tape measure and drawings.
• Proficient with air tools, hammers, saws and drills.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Experience reading and understanding instructions in various forms.
• Experience driving flatbed or box trucks and towing trailers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safe delivery of storage buildings to stores and sites.
• Perform warranty repairs on customer sites.
• Provide feedback to management on warranty issues vs chargeable work.
• Deliver excellent customer service to current and prospective customers.
• Support off-site events and maintain displays.
• Report vehicle maintenance needs and ensure GPS device is active.
• Report defective tools to management in a timely manner.

We\'re recruiting for a Field Construction Technician to be part of our team providing high-quality Tuff Shed products..

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

Warranty, Service, & Delivery

• Assists in the safe delivery of Tuff Shed storage buildings to Home Depot stores, customer properties, and retail sales lots
• Performs customer service warranty repair tasks on customer sites effectively, efficiently and with courtesy and within the scheduled timeframe
• Provides feedback to management team – determining whether concerns are covered warranty issues that can be resolved but chargeable or a completion issue

Sales & Customer Service

• Delivers excellent customer service when dealing with Tuff Shed current (and prospective) customers
• Assists with off-site special events such as Home Shows
• Assists with upkeep of HD displays and marketing materials

Vehicle and Driving responsibilities

• Inform the OM of service/maintenance requirements for Tuff Shed vehicle

Other

• Reports defective, worn, or inoperable tools (electric, pneumatic, consumables, extension cords, air hoses, etc) to Management in a timely manner
• Ensures vehicle\’s GPS device remains connected and operable at all times

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• General knowledge of the construction industry, basic carpentry skills, basic roofing skills, and basic painting skills
• Ability to read a tape measure, working drawings, and speed square
• Ability to operate air compressors, air tools, hammer, saw, drill, and other basic power tools
• Proven customer service and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read, write and understand instructions given orally, in writing and/or in diagram form
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public
• Ability to use mobile application systems, as required, for the purpose of scheduling, reporting, etc
• Ability to read, write and understand instructions given orally, in writing and/or in diagram form
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public
• Experience driving a flatbed truck, box truck and/or towing trailers, unloading, and transporting materials is a plus
• Experience as a “big box” delivery driver is a plus
• Experience with vehicle inspections
