Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. seeks a Safety Engineer to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of company safety policies across projects.

You will enforce safe practices on jobsites, oversee Accident Prevention Plans, and coordinate safety training and field PPE programs to protect workers. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering or a related field, willingness to travel/relocate, knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations, OSHA 500/510, and certifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or related construction field.
• Willing to travel and relocate to project sites domestically and internationally.
• Familiarity with OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations.
• OSHA 500 & 510 certifications.
• CSP, SMP and CHST certifications.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the implementation, enforcement and continuous improvement of Barnard safety policies and processes.
• Enforce safe practices with a visible presence on jobsites.
• Prepare and review Safety Plans, Accident Prevention Plans and Job Hazard Analyses.
• Coordinate drug screening requirements for construction projects.
• Develop, coordinate and/or present safety training for field employees.
• Coordinate PPE purchase, issuance, adequacy and use for field crews.
• Develop and coordinate safety forms/policies for field crews.
• Distribute Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to field crews.
• Assist with accident investigation/reporting as needed.
• Communicate daily with field crews with tact and professionalism.
• Interact with clients on project basis with emphasis on customer service.
• Engage in site safety inspections; coordinate corrections with all contractors.
