Job description

Job Description Overview

We are seeking a Field Construction Management Director to join our team in TX, AL, VA, PA, OH, IN, and WI. Our Pharmaceutical team is growing! The Field Construction Management Director serves as the owner's primary field representative across a major pharmaceutical manufacturing campus. This role provides independent owner-side oversight of construction execution activities, ensuring work is progressing safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved quality standards, commissioning requirements, and overall program objectives. Unlike traditional contractor-led construction management positions, this role represents the owner's interests in the field by validating progress, monitoring quality performance, identifying emerging execution risks, and ensuring readiness for turnover and startup activities. The position provides objective verification of contractor performance while supporting collaboration across engineering, construction, CQV, startup, and operations teams. Success in this role is measured by the accuracy of progress reporting, effectiveness of quality oversight, timely resolution of field issues, reduction of rework, and successful transition of systems into commissioning and operational readiness. This is a unique opportunity to help shape and lead one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing investments in North America while working alongside industry-leading professionals on a career-defining program on a greenfield campus. We are offering a full-time position with AtkinsRéalis that provides the opportunity to lead complex, high-profile programs, collaborate with world-class delivery teams, and receive a highly competitive compensation package with robust benefits.

Your role
  • Serve as the owner's primary field oversight representative across active construction work fronts and contractor organizations.
  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence to monitor construction activities, productivity, progress, and execution quality.
  • Independently verify contractor-reported progress and support development of accurate owner-side progress measurement metrics.
  • Conduct routine field assessments to identify risks, constraints, and emerging issues that may impact safety, quality, schedule, or turnover objectives.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Support implementation of owner quality assurance and quality control expectations across all project areas.
  • Lead oversight and tracking of non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch items, corrective actions, and field quality issues.
  • Facilitate coordination among construction, engineering, commissioning, validation, and startup teams to ensure effective field execution.
  • Validate field readiness for inspections, mechanical completion, system turnover, commissioning, and operational handoff activities.
  • Identify and elevate execution risks before they impact critical milestones or startup objectives.
  • Support integrated planning efforts by identifying field constraints, work sequencing conflicts, and contractor coordination challenges.
  • Participate in daily construction meetings, work package reviews, and field coordination sessions.
  • Coordinate with Project Controls teams to validate installation progress and support field productivity measurement.
  • Assess contractor staffing, resource deployment, and work-front readiness against project objectives.
  • Develop field observation reports, executive summaries, and performance dashboards for owner leadership.
  • Verify completion of corrective actions and resolution of quality-related deficiencies.
  • Support readiness reviews for commissioning, qualification, validation, and operational startup activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and field excellence across the campus.
  • Build strong working relationships with contractor leadership, construction management teams, commissioning personnel, and owner stakeholders.
  • Drive implementation of lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across field execution teams.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with clients to assure satisfaction with services provided.
  • Directs value engineering and risk management initiatives.
  • Obtains client feedback at project close-out and manages the lessons learned processes.
