Job summary

The State of Indiana's INDOT Seymour District in Corydon invites applications for a field-based position overseeing highway maintenance, testing, and construction inspections. You will lead crews, ensure safety standards, and coordinate with contractors to meet INDOT specifications across routes in Harrison and Floyd counties.

Role requires CDL within 90 days, ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to work in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass and submit to a drug test.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local highway guidelines, laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of drafting and surveying techniques.
• Ability to independently lead and coordinate the work of a crew in the field.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Must endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Must lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical activities for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance, traffic equipment to maintain, repair, and clean highways and rights‑of‑way.
• Ensure staff complete work assignments and report problems.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure INDOT standards and specs.
• Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
• Inspect and maintain equipment and perform minor repairs and refueling.
• Maintain, repair, and install traffic signs and markers.
• Respond to emergencies with traffic control and barricades.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksites is essential.
