Job summary

Atmos Energy Corporation is seeking a construction professional to coordinate natural gas system projects from planning through execution. You will work with internal teams and external contractors to ensure safe, cost-efficient, and timely completion while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The role requires Sr Level status in construction or pipeline operations, OQ certifications, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with four years natural gas construction/maintenance experience.
  • Must have Sr Level status in construction maintenance or pipeline operations.
  • Must hold Operator Qualifications (OQs) and related classroom training.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Competent Person certificate.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license; CDL and welding certificate may be required.
  • Requires ability to perform physically demanding tasks and operate in various environments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities to accomplish assigned natural gas system projects using internal resources and external contractors.
  • Monitor and assure projects are completed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Serve as internal and external customer contact during the construction phase of new or existing natural gas system projects.
  • Monitor project status and act as liaison between Company resources, contractors, government agencies and vendors to assure success of projects.
  • Review materials utilization and process-related invoices for accuracy.
  • Maintain knowledge of current construction techniques, materials, standards and regulations required for installation of natural gas pipelines and related facilities.
  • Perform activities to assure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.

Primary Duties
  • Coordinates activities to accomplish assigned natural gas system projects requiring the use of internal resources and external contractors.
  • Monitors and assures projects are completed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner.

  • Monitors project status and acts as liaison between Company resources, contractors, government agencies and vendors to assure success of projects.
  • Reviews materials utilization and process related invoices for accuracy.
  • Maintains and applies knowledge of current construction techniques, materials, standards and regulations required for the installation of natural gas pipelines and related facilities.
  • Performs activities to assure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
  • Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
  • May be required to hold stand‑by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call‑outs, and occasional extensive hours.
  • Is subject to reporting outside regular work area.
  • Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion.
  • Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
  • Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company's values, strategies, policies and procedures and exhibits the core values of AtmoSpirit, Customer Service, Safety and the Company's Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others.
  • Must become familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live by the spirit of its intent and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment. Must complete all required safety training.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Experience Level: High school diploma or equivalent and Four years natural gas construction and maintenance, and/or pipeline operations field experience.

Must have obtained Sr Level status in construction maintenance or pipeline operations.

Certificates, Licenses, etc.

Must have and maintain minimum Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training for position.

Must obtain and maintain any other required OQs and classroom training or certifications within six months.

Must have and maintain a Competent Person certificate.

Requires a valid driver's license in accordance with Company standards. May require CDL, if required see Driver Policy. May require a welding certificate.

Computer Skills

Requires working knowledge of various software applications for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks.

Communication Skills

Requires the ability to communicate with internal/external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift and carry 53 pounds from the ground to 52 inches. (Ex: lifting and operating fire extinguisher). Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch. Ability to walk a distance of 500 feet. Ability to climb a 19‑inch step. (Ex: climbing in and out of vehicle). Requires the acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting. Must be able to lift tools, equipment and materials up to and including 60 pounds.

Work Conditions

Work requires entry to customer premises. Works indoors in an office environment and outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain, and occasional work on ladders, roofs, attics, and under houses as well as confined spaces. Works as an individual contributor and/or as member of a team. May have residence requirement due to call‑out response time.

Other Requirements

As a Safety‑Sensitive position, pre and post employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
