Job summary

Point Blue Conservation Science seeks a Western Snowy Plover Conservation Technician in the Monterey Bay area of California for a 5-month seasonal role. The technician will work 40 hours per week and be paid $23.15 per hour, with housing not provided and reimbursement for field-use mileage.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in birds and conservation, with color-band reading ability.
• Ability to traverse long distances on sandy, uneven terrain.
• Willingness to work alone after training and with a team.
• Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor breeding snowy plovers in the field (70%).
• Enter and manage snowy plover data (20%).
• Implement habitat protections and other management actions (5%).
• Participate in collaborative team meetings (5%).
• Interact with the public to share information on protections and threats.
