Job summary

Strategic Comp, a leading provider of workers' compensation insurance, seeks a Field Claims Specialist in Southern California. The role involves investigating and adjusting high-exposure California WC claims with a focus on settlements, reserves, and reporting.

Travel requirements include field work and some overnight travel, with residence in Southern California preferred. The candidate should have 10+ years of California WC claims adjusting, active adjuster license, and strong communication

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of California workers' compensation claims adjusting experience with higher exposure claims.
  • License to adjust California workers' compensation claims is required.
  • Location in Southern California is required.
  • Industry designations such as Associate in Claims are advantageous.

Responsibilities

Your role would be to investigate and adjust workers' compensation claims with the highest potential exposure. We take an extremely aggressive and pro-active approach in claims adjusting and are looking for the person who not only knows their territory’s comp laws but also enjoys the role of putting that experience to good use. Because we focus on outcomes and not just processes, we look for the adjuster who is very skilled at developing strategies to bring claims to resolution.The person hired for this position will work from an office in their home approximately 40% of the time and work in the field approximately 60% of the time. Overnight travel is required as needed and where caseload dictates. Candidates must reside in Southern California.ResponsibilitiesInvestigating lossesAnalyzing coverage, determining compensability and benefitsEstablishing reserves and negotiating settlementsConducting face-to-face meetings with claimants and insuredsPreparing large loss reports to both internal and external audiencesAttending settlement conferences, pre-trials and trials as assignedWorking closely with defense attorneys and other vendors including medical case management, surveillance, etc.Physical RequirementsRequires prolonged sitting and/or standing.Requires frequent travel, including some overnight travel.Requires ability to operate and/or travel in a motor vehicle for long periods of time.May require occasional travel by airplane.Requires frequent use of computer.QualificationsA minimum of 10 years of California workers' compensation claims adjusting experience with higher exposure claims is requiredActive California workers compensation adjusters license is requiredLocation in Southern California is requiredStrong consideration will be given to candidates with industry designations including Associate in ClaimsYou must be a great communicator, in both written and verbal form, and be able to work with a variety of internal and external contactsBusiness Unit:Strategic CompSalary Range:$115,000.00 -$125,000.00Benefits:We offer competitive benefits packages for full-time and part-time employees*.
