Job summary

Progressive is seeking a qualifiedClaims Appraiser to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role focuses on conducting vehicle inspections, writing accurate estimates, and setting clear timelines for claim resolutions.

You will negotiate repair steps with body shops, document claim details, and make decisions aligned with Progressive's standards and applicable laws. Prior appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience is required alongside a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience with 1 year appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
• Associate's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience with 1 year appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
• Bachelor's degree plus 1 year appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
• Negotiate repair process with body shops.
• Document information related to the claim and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.

Duties and responsibilities

• Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines
• Negotiate repair process with body shops
• Document information related to the claim and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws
• Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolution of claims without payments
• Review and determine validity of any supplement requests

Minimum qualifications

• A minimum of four years of relevant work experience with one year appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience
• {OR} Associate's degree and a minimum of three years relevant work experience with one year appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience
• {OR} Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and compliance with Progressive’s driving standards and/or policies

Preferred qualifications

• Extensive Estimating or Shop Experience

Compensation

• $38.51 - $47.12/hour depending on experience
• Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 16% of your eligible earnings based on company performance

• Required to climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl.
