Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Field Chemist to work directly at customer sites, identifying and handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials for transport and disposal. Qualifications

• Associate degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of related experience required; lab packing or environmental waste experience preferred.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Identify, characterize, sort, and segregate chemicals based on hazard class and compatibility.
• Perform lab pack services at industrial facilities, labs, schools, and other sites.
• Package and prepare hazardous and non-hazardous materials for safe transport and disposal.
• Complete required documentation and ensure materials are labeled, placarded, loaded, and segregated.
• Communicate with customers to ensure projects are completed safely and professionally.
• Provide direction to Field Technicians and Drivers assisting with waste collection.
• Travel throughout the region to support customer projects and assist other locations when needed.

What Your Day Could Look Like

As a Field Chemist, you'll work directly at customer sites to safely identify, sort, package, and prepare hazardous and non-hazardous materials for transportation and disposal. One day may take you to a laboratory, the next to an industrial facility, school, or other customer location. You'll apply your technical knowledge while working alongside experienced environmental professionals to help customers safely manage their waste.

This is an active, field-based role that combines chemistry, environmental services, safety, customer interaction, and problem-solving.

• Identify, characterize, sort, and segregate chemicals and other materials based on hazard class and compatibility.
• Perform lab pack services at industrial facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, and other customer sites.
• Package and prepare hazardous and non-hazardous materials for safe transportation and disposal.
• Complete required documentation and ensure materials are properly labeled, placarded, loaded, and segregated.
• Help assess unknown or high-hazard materials and develop your knowledge of specialized material and cylinder handling.
• Communicate directly with customers, answer questions, and help make sure each project is completed safely and professionally.
• Provide direction to Field Technicians and Drivers assisting with waste collection and project execution.
• Travel throughout the region to support customer projects and, periodically, assist other locations when needed.

At the end of the project or day, you'll return to the Field Office and prepare for what's next.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

You don't need to know everything on day one. You do need to be someone who takes safety seriously, enjoys learning, pays attention to details, and is comfortable working in changing environments.

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Has an Associate degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific field; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experience

• In lieu of degree, 2+ years of related experience (required), previous experience in lab packing or environmental waste (preferred)
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire date (required)
• Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record search to Company standards (required)
• *Due to the potential exposure to atmospheres/waste/materials this position requires individuals to be clean shaven at all times in order to don a respirator for protection
