Sowela is seeking a Field Chemist to join its environmental services team in the United States, supporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste management projects regionally. The role involves field work at various sites, data and documentation tasks, and hands-on problem solving.

Ideal candidates will have a science degree and be comfortable traveling to customer sites, with training provided including CDL support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Associate degree plus relevant industry experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, characterize, package, and label chemical waste materials.
  • Travel to customer sites including industrial facilities, laboratories, universities, and manufacturing environments.
  • Prepare manifests and documentation for waste handling and transportation.
  • Assist with hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, DOT, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work directly with customers to provide exceptional service and support.
  • Drive company vehicles and transport materials to designated facilities.
  • Support field projects involving waste consolidation, segregation, and disposal activities.

Are you a recent Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or related science graduate looking for a hands-on career outside of a traditional laboratory? We are seeking a Field Chemist to join a growing environmental services team supporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste management projects throughout the region.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who enjoy problem-solving, working in the field, interacting with customers, and applying scientific knowledge in real-world environments. Training is provided, including support for obtaining a Class B CDL.

What You'll Do

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials or waste management practices
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or environmental settings
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat Endorsement within six months of hire
  • Must meet company driving record requirements
  • Ability to lift, move, and manage materials in a field environment
  • Comfortable wearing required PPE and working in regulated environments
