Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking qualified CEI Inspectors to support construction projects across Alabama. This role involves inspecting activities and documenting progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and standards.

You will work with contractors, the Senior Inspector, and the Project Manager, prepare daily inspection reports, conduct material tests, and assist with earthwork calculations. Occasional travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Intermediate math and geometry skills (e.g., area and volume)
• Willingness to travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work in progress to verify conformance with project plans, specifications, and standards.
• Inspect completed installations to ensure quality workmanship and compliance.
• Prepare and maintain accurate daily inspection reports, including labor, equipment, work performed, and relevant communications with contractors.
• Conduct material inspections and testing for incorporation into the project.
• Prepare sketches and documentation for construction elements that deviate from original plans and assist with updating master plans.
• Assist with office-related tasks, including plotting cross-sections and calculating earthwork quantities.
• Safely operate a company vehicle to and from project sites.
• Comply with HSE policies and participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance; perform other duties as assigned.
• Some travel will be required to support projects as needed
