Job summary

Thompson Engineering seeks a Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Inspector to join our Quality Acceptance Team on the West Alabama Highway Design-Build Project.

The project involves widening Highways 43 and 69 from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway, with bypasses across a 74-mile corridor from Thomasville to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The CEI Inspector will perform field inspections, testing, and reporting, and may oversee one or more segments as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Roadway construction or survey experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections, observations, and materials testing to ensure contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and technical provisions.
• Maintain accurate and detailed reports of construction activities.
• Identify and report nonconformances in contractor work to the Project Manager.
• Represent Thompson Engineering in a professional manner when interacting with clients, partner firms, and contractors.
• Consistently apply and promote safety standards in all field activities.
