Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking an entry-level Full Time Buried Drop Technician to install buried copper, fiber, and coaxial cables from the hub to customers’ homes. You will connect customers to reliable internet, voice, and entertainment services while prioritizing safety and quality workmanship.

The role focuses on hands-on field work, learning trenching, boring, and installation tasks, with opportunities for growth in fiber optic and telecommunications careers. This is a safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk ½ mile or more with a drop plow.
• Ability to work overtime, callouts, and standby as needed.
• Basic technology and math skills.
• Ability to distinguish colors in color-coded cable.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT physical and maintain DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install buried copper, fiber, and coaxial drop cable to connect networks to homes.
• Use technical and customer focus to create meaningful connections with customers.
• Interpret work drawings and complete paperwork.
• Sell and promote Kinetic products and services.
• Train new employees in daily tasks.
• Operate hand-held computer to retrieve and clear tasks.
• Perform locates on underground facilities as applicable.
• Operate trenching and boring equipment for burying cables.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
